Is there an AI tool that picks the right bots for me?

Botlens is a free catalog of Grok Bot bots, templates and skills that shows each listing's safety status, and it ships a Grok Bot skill that picks them for you. Describe your task and the skill searches the catalog, skips listings flagged Risky, ranks matches by fit and safety, and asks before installing anything. You don't have to test bots by hand.

The Botlens skill does the picking inside Grok Bot, so it works as an AI agent finder you talk to. You install it once, then ask for a capability in plain words, such as "I need something to triage my inbox." The skill searches the Botlens catalog, leaves out anything flagged Risky, ranks what is left by fit and safety, and shows you the result before it installs anything.

The catalog behind it is large. Botlens lists 30,757 public listings. Listings come from public catalogs such as templatesgrokbot.com, grokdir.com, grokbot.dev and GitHub. Risky listings are hidden everywhere, on the site and in the API.

Searching that many listings by hand is slow. Most people open a directory, type a keyword, open ten tabs and still cannot tell which ones are safe. The skill moves that work to your bot, and you keep the final say.

How do I set it up?

Setup takes one message. Paste this into your Grok Bot:

Install the skill from https://github.com/CambIAIA/Botlens/tree/main/skill/botlens

Your bot reads the skill, tells you what it does, and asks before saving it. The skill is free and open source on GitHub, so you can read it before you say yes. The full steps are in How to install a skill in Grok Bot.

After that, ask for what you need. Good requests name the task and the limits. "Find me a skill that cleans up my Gmail but never deletes without asking" gives the skill more to rank on than "email bot."

What does the Botlens catalog cover?

It covers bots, templates and skills for Grok Bot across 17 groups. The biggest are Research (2,983 listed), Coding & Dev (2,987) and Productivity (2,973). Smaller groups include Social Media (777) and Health (597). You can browse any of them directly:

Coding & Dev 2,987 1,466 Best Coding AI agents
Productivity 2,973 929 Best Productivity AI agents

Across the whole catalog, 11,517 listings are marked Safe, 1,169 Caution and 18,071 Unscanned. A further 618 were marked Risky and are not shown.

What are the best skills for Grok Bot?

The best skills for Grok Bot are the ones that fit your task and carry a Safe badge on full code. The picker finds whatever in the catalog fits your words, so results change as the catalog grows. To give a feel for it, here are a few Safe listings whose full code Botlens could read, with the summary from their own listing:

Listing Task Botlens result What the listing says it does Page
Sweepmail Inbox cleanup Safe, full code read Cleans up a Gmail inbox with a dry run first, plus a read-only checker /bot/132
Inbox Sentry Email safety Safe, full code read A free Grok Bot template that flags prompt injection in Outlook mail /bot/60
Dawnbrief Morning brief Safe, full code read A 7am brief with calendar, focus time and the email that needs you /bot/129
Adversarial Code Reviewer Code review Safe, full code read Reviews recent code changes and returns a merge verdict /bot/21146
Grokbot Marketing Manager Marketing Safe, full code read Marketing manager instructions and a team setup skill /bot/677

A Safe badge is a filter, not a promise. Read the bot page before you install, and look at what was checked.

How does the skill decide what is safe?

It uses the Botlens badges. Every listing gets one of three badges shown to you: Safe, Caution or Unscanned. Risky is a fourth result, and those listings never appear.

  • Safe means the rule-based scan found no obvious threats in what it could read.
  • Caution means something should be reviewed first, often ads, affiliate links or a description-only listing.
  • Unscanned means there was nothing public to read, usually because the code is closed.

Botlens also records coverage: full code, partial, description only, or nothing. A Safe badge on full code tells you much more than a Safe badge on a short description. The scan pins the exact version it read, so a badge belongs to that version. If the author updates the skill later, the badge may no longer apply. Some listings also get a hands-on behaviour review, and Botlens publishes a summary per check without the test material.

Where can I find Grok Bot templates?

You can find Grok Bot templates on Botlens alongside skills and bots. Botlens indexes public listings from template directories and GitHub and shows each one's badge. Browse by category, such as Best Productivity AI agents, or let the skill search templates and skills together for your task.

How do I find AI agent skills without searching by hand?

To find AI agent skills without searching by hand, describe the job to your Grok Bot with the Botlens skill installed. It searches the catalog for you and returns a short list with badges. If you prefer to browse, the category pages list Safe picks with full-code listings first.

Can my own agent search Botlens without the skill?

Yes. Botlens has a free, static JSON API with no key. Any agent can read the manifest, search the shards and fetch full records with scan findings. The site also publishes llms.txt and openapi.json so agents can learn the format on their own. See How to let your agent find tools via the Botlens API.

This is useful if you build agents outside Grok Bot, or want a custom picker with your own rules.

Is a directory enough, or do I need a picker?

A directory is enough when you already know the name of what you want. A picker helps when you know the job but not the tool. A plain directory lists what exists. That still leaves you to read each listing, guess whether it is safe and compare it with the others.

Botlens works both ways. You can browse it as an AI agent catalog on the web, with category pages and a search page. Or you can let the skill read it for you and bring back a short list. Either way, Risky listings are already gone and each result shows its badge.

What should I still check myself?

Check the permissions and the coverage. The skill asks before installing, and that pause is your moment to look. Three things are worth a glance:

  • Does the skill ask for more access than the job needs? An inbox cleaner needs your mail. It does not need your files.
  • How much did Botlens read? Full code is better than a description.
  • Will it send anything on its own? Prefer tools that draft and wait for you.

How to choose bots and skills automatically

  1. Install the Botlens skill. Paste the install line into Grok Bot and approve it after you read what it does.
  2. Describe the task, not the tool. Say what you want done and any limits, such as "read-only" or "ask before sending."
  3. Read the short list. Each match comes with its badge. Prefer Safe listings with full code read.
  4. Open the bot page. Look at the findings and the source link before you approve.
  5. Approve, or ask again. If nothing fits, refine your request. The skill installs nothing without your yes.
  6. Re-check after updates. A badge belongs to the version Botlens scanned.

FAQ

Is there something that picks the right Grok Bot skills for me?

Yes. The free Botlens skill runs inside Grok Bot. You describe a task, and it searches the Botlens catalog of 30,757 listings, skips anything flagged Risky, ranks matches by fit and safety, and asks you before installing. You still make the final choice, but you no longer have to search directories and test bots one by one.

What is the best AI agent finder for Grok Bot?

Botlens works as an AI agent finder inside Grok Bot. Install the free Botlens skill, describe your task, and it searches the Botlens catalog, skips listings flagged Risky, ranks matches by fit and safety, and asks before installing. On the web you can also browse Botlens by category or through its free JSON API.

Is the Botlens skill free?

Yes. The Botlens skill is free and open source on GitHub, so you can read its instructions before installing it. To add it, paste the install line from the Botlens install guide into your Grok Bot. Your bot explains what the skill does and asks before saving it.

Does a Safe badge mean a bot is guaranteed safe?

No. Safe means the Botlens rule-based scan found no obvious threats in the version it could read. It is a strong filter, not a guarantee. Check how much was read, from full code down to description only, and review the permissions before you approve an install.

Where do I find the best Grok Bot templates?

Botlens indexes public listings from template directories and GitHub, including templatesgrokbot.com, grokdir.com and grokbot.dev. It does not sell placements. Category pages sort Safe picks so that listings whose full code was read come first, which is a good place to start if you want vetted templates.
